The internet tells me that it is officially Spring time now. This means that though it may still be too early to start wearing your favorite pair of formal shorts, you can start reintroducing color into your wardrobe.  Nothing says “I am ready to see the sun again” like the designs of Emilio Pucci. In my experience vintage Pucci is light-weight and vibrant, it brings to mind smiling, tan, “rebel aristocrat” Italian girls. Pucci is one of the brands I find very sporadically in our stores but I am excited to share a few of the pieces I have encountered as of late:

When I saw the above picture of Phoebe Philo (mastermind behind Céline) in Vogue last year I knew sneakers were going to become the next “thing”. Phoebe Philo radiates cool and her personal style is as studied by fashion obsessed girls as her runway shows. Originally I dismissed the whole trend because I believed that I could take no part in it. After college I started to take full advantage of the power of heels to pull-together almost any outfit and I have to admit that I became addicted to the feeling of stomping around in my Rachel Comey heeled boots.

Cut to this January when I started having extreme pain in my heels and had to start looking for more comfortable footwear. I can’t “pull off ” anything too “clunky” because it would just look foolish next to all of my feminine separates but about a week ago I finally settled on a pair of all black Nikes. I have to admit that I am kind of obsessed with them. I like how my sneakers can make an outfit look less fussy and more effortless. Below I am pictured wearing my new Nikes with some of my favorite NCJWLA finds; a Dries Van Noten top from Veteran, a leather skirt from Fairfax, a vintage leather handbag from Granville, and a Givenchy bracelet from Victory/Van Nuys.

Gotta Catch ‘Em All

You might think that after 2 years of doing this blog and countless others as just a faithful shopper that I would grow tired of the sale cycle. However, each Friday I feel a jolt of something like anxiety imagining all the vintage I am about to encounter. It is not to say that some weeks aren’t better than others but that you just never know what you are going to get. Fashions change but the conventional retail calendar is consistent  . . .except when it comes to vintage.

One time I drove all the way to our Canoga Park store just to realize I left my camera memory card at home and I had to go home and retrieve it because it was the day we got in a truck load of vintage Gucci. I love that I have had the opportunity to document the diversity and quality of our ever changing merchandise.

This past week was a bit slower than usual at our Granville store but now I am looking forward to previewing the selection for this weeks sale at our Pico location.
