Some really big changes are coming soon to our Fairfax location. “Best of the Best” sales at said store are on hold until early October but here are a few of my picks from what the store has been saving for now. Prepare yourselves for a new, bigger, brighter, and even better stocked NCJWLA Thrift shop set to open in less that 2 months!!

Something Old & Something New

The genius of a good thrift store lies in the perfect mix of contemporary and “vintage” clothing. Personally I get as much of a thrill in finding Rachel Comey or Phillip Lim at one of our store as I do in discovering “old-school” YSL or Comme des Garcons. This week’s sale at the Pico store was a perfect example of said mix. Vintage Oscar de la Renta and brand new...

What I’m Wearing

You could say that finding a Comme des Garcons jacket at the Fairfax store profoundly effected my dress sensibilities. I have been taking more and more risks with shape in my everyday clothing, being less afraid to wear thing that have heavy draping as well as lots of fabric. I am pictured here wearing a new dress by an LA based brand called “Perfect 69″, sandals by...

Back to School

August and September in Los Angeles are always hell-ish. In the midst of a seemingly endless Indian Summer kids are forced to go back to school. Though I completed University about a year ago, I  still remember shopping for Fall clothes for weeks leading up to my return to school and then of course wearing them as soon as I could even if I ended up sweating through lunch period until late...

Obsessing

Currently obsessing over: 1.  This 100% Alpaca Sweater by the great Rachel Comey that I stumbled upon in the regular section of the Venice Store. 2. The photography of André Kertész 3. Set design by Cory Ander 4. The style of French model Jeanne Damas 5. These Rachel Comey...

Let’s Match!

Remember the Vintage Thai Jacket I posted about from Veteran?!  Well now one of my all time favorite finds can be a part of your closet as well! No I will not be selling clothing over the blog but you can purchase the full length coat version of my jacket from the Venice store. My jacket is about waist length and this one hits mid knee, my jacket has a blue silk lining and this one has a purple...

Moody Blues

Obsessed with this pair of heavy printed Miu Miu pants from the Veteran store! Although it is really too hot to be doing them justice right now I couldn’t resist enlisting Anna to help me show them off. Because we shot late the pictured took a turn for the dark and gothic (my favorite!). I am pictured wearing the Miu Miu pants with a Square Neck Top by Black Crane and Slip-In  Super...

Business Casual

I must admit that I have always dreaded the day when I might have a job that required proper office wear. I never attended a school with a strict uniform policy and luckily working in or around fashion has kept me from having to buy clothing just to wear to the office. My work usually (non-verbally) requires me to dress using common sense while showing personal style  but still I have always...

“Travel Finds”

A few items based on the theme: “She has never been anywhere she can tell you about” (coined by Plum Sykes in the book “The Debutante Divorcee“) furry topped lace-ups next to a suede Miu Miu tote wicker, fabric, and brass vintage...

Youth in Revolt

My ideas for these blog posts come from clothing I spot at the  Best of the Best Sale of the week, but my references definitely influence what stands out to me and what I shoot. Though I had already been taking pictures at the Studio City store  for a few hours, once someone brought these pointy Marc Jacobs mouse flats to my attention the day suddenly made sense and had a theme to me. I love...
