Addictive Yearning

“There’s a German word for it, of course: Sehnsucht, which translates as “addictive yearning.”

-New York Times

Does looking through blogs and eCommerce sites give anyone else anxiety? I’m not sure if my relenting enthusiasm for clothes and accessories is a good thing or destined to be my downfall.

Fall Forward

In Fashion “the seasons” rarely correspond with those found in nature. While it is almost unbearably hot out (it will probably remain so until October) most stores are currently getting in their Fall 12′ merchandise. Because I loathe frizzy hair and skimpy clothes I am eagerly anticipating the Fall and optimistically trying on coats this week at our Canoga Park store.

I am very partial to this Vintage Ungaro blazer and it’s curved hem.

This coat hits all the whimsical spots: peter pan collar, wide belt, and over-sized buttons!

Finally I get to share images of my new Comme des Garcons coat from the Fairfax sale! Anna was available to help take some extra special pictures of this romantic and classic piece. I am pictured wearing the jacket with a top from the Granville store, Madewell Jeans, and the Michael Loafer by Repetto. My bag is by 3.1 Phillip Lim and my bracelet is Dream Collective.

Bright Spot

If it seems like Missoni is everywhere right now it’s because it kind of is. In the wake of the Italian knit-wear brands collaboration with power retailer Target, they have become a household name . Missoni brings to mind bright clashing patterns, fine fabrics, and beautiful/tan Italians.  I love that the brand is led by some seriously stylish ladies, including a one very pretty and very smiley Margherita Missoni. At this past weeks sale at the Pico store we got in an amazing sweater/skirt set of contrast prints. The best part was the skirt was reversible and it’s lining matched that of the sweater!

Le Sevs

Due to circumstances (my own irresponsibility) this week I found myself asking the question: What is a blogger without the Internet? The answer as you might suspect is . . .NOTHING. Still regardless of whether I am in possession of the Internet or not sales continue, clothing is “pulled”, and Council Thrift goes on. So it is with great pleasure that I finally share with you all tidbits from last weeks sale at the Fairfax store as well as a very special preview of a shoot I am planning for this Sunday.

For some reason my mannequin this week felt very Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony circa 2008. Maybe it’s the check vs. floral pattern clash going on that has me reminiscing about “Le Sevs” and her design work. Even the cross necklace is reminiscent of the Imitation of Christ label era Chloe . . .
