In my opinion nothing beats summer in Los Angeles. Cemetery Screenings, concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, Taco Trucks, the smell of gardenias everywhere . . .I could just go on and on and eventually compose some very bad poetry on the subject. Here are a few choice pieces to make the most out of this glorious season:

vintage Breton striped mini dress

Vintage Gucci scarf (framed)

knotted suede Gucci dress

Hello! Just because I am trying to streamline my closet and stop splurging is no reason for me to be sporadically posting here! Even though this is a “Thrift” based blog that doesn’t mean I don’t notice trends during the sales. This past week at Granville I saw a handful of maxi skirts, some intricate embroidery, and a few constructed pieces from Prada and Miu Miu. My favorite find was a pink washed silk blouse by “Equipment“. Equipment is known for making coveted blouses that have just the right amount of draping. The very same signature blouse found at Granville is currently sold for $210 dollars on Net-A-Porter!

When wearing something that kind of intimidates you (whether it’s velvet, or heavy embroidery, or bright colors) for the first time I recommend toning down the rest of your outfit. My standbys are: black jeans and boat-neck tees. When you get comfortable you can go bolder!

Cobalt is having a “moment” right now. I’m going to be so bold as to say that it is THEE color of the moment. If you are equally fixated on cobalt then I strongly recommend bidding on this pair of vintage YSL cobalt slingbacks( how cool is that matching cobalt heel?!) on our Ebay store RIGHT NOW!

For “cobalt watch” check out this awesome post!

As evident by my reoccurring images of lace-ups I love menswear (or menswear inspired women’s wear). I use the word “crisp” to describe that perfect balance that can only be attained by the right leather shoe paired with the just-so button up. This week’s selection at the Studio City store had me thinking of Buddy Holly and the Teddy Girls shot by Ken Russell in 1950′s England.

“In 1955, the fledgling photographer created a series called The Last of the Teddy Girls, which featured photographs taken against the war-torn backdrop of London’s East End. The images are one of the first reportage series to be made of British youth culture, presenting pictures of working class girls in Neo-Edwardian dress—a fascinating counterpoint to their drape-coated and drainpipe-wearing male counterparts the Teddy Boy.”
